KUCHING, Jan 11: Operational hours for business premises in zones under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) namely Kuching, Sibu and Miri will be announced tomorrow (Jan 12).

This was disclosed by State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas during the daily press conference to give updates on the state’s Covid-19 situation here earlier today.

He said details of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including operational hours for businesses in CMCO zones would be revealed in due time after the SDMC meeting tomorrow.

“Now, the operational hours are until 12.00am (midnight). Under CMCO, we want to reduce the time.

“SDMC will have a meeting tomorrow and we will decide on the time,” he said.

A 14-day CMCO will be implemented in Kuching, Sibu and Miri starting midnight tomorrow from Jan 13 to 26.

This is due to the surge in positive cases reported across several districts in Sarawak over the past three days.

Sarawak today recorded its highest daily toll at 153 cases, shattering the previous high of 55 cases set only two days ago on Jan 9.

Earlier in the press conference, Uggah said there have been 209 local transmission cases in the whole of Sarawak for the past 14 days and that was the reason that compelled SDMC into making the decision to enforce the CMCO.

Following the implementation of the CMCO, inter-district travel to and from affected zones will no longer be allowed without official police permits. — DayakDaily
