Covid-19 spike: Sarawak sees highest toll of 153 cases

KUCHING, Jan 11: Sarawak sets a new single-day record for reporting 153 Covid-19 cases today.

This was revealed by State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas during a Covid-19 press conference at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex today.


Prior to this on Jan 9, the most number of cases in a day was 55, with 37 cases in Sibu, 15 in Kuching, two in Miri and one case in Bintulu.

The highlight of the sudden outbreak was on the Pasai Cluster involving Rh Langi at Pasai Siong, Sibu with 37 new cases in one report due to a Sarawakian returnee from Johor to attend her father’s funeral.

Today, Uggah reported 94 new cases in Miri, 25 in Sibu, 17 in Dalat, 13 in Kuching, two in Sri Aman, and one each in Selangau and Beluru.—DayakDaily
