LAWAS, March 12: Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has requested for the contractor to add more facilities to the ongoing construction of Pasar Tamu Lawas.
The market, which is currently under its second phase of implementation, is expected to be completed on April 26 next year.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Awang Tengah when visiting the project site on Friday (March 10), said the additional facilities would include toilets, washing sinks and utilities.
Nonetheless, he was satisfied with the ongoing project which is being built at a total cost of RM15,771,642.90.
At the same time, Awang Tengah who is also Bukit Sari assemblyman and Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA) chairman visited the new Lawas District Education Office construction site.
The project worth RM3,459,676.76 has so far reached 82.17 per cent completion and is expected to be completed on June 30 this year.
Awang Tengah also visited the project site for a millennium park in Loagan Datu Taie which costs RM6,340,819. Construction began on April 22 last year and is expected to finish on April 21 this year.
He also visited the new ‘anjung usahawan’ (entrepreneur centre) in Kampung Ladang Baru on the same day.
Also present were Limbang Resident Yunus Tambi; political secretary to the Sarawak Premier Awangku Zainal Abidin Dato Pengiran Jawa; NRDA director Dato Ubaidillah Abdul Latip; Limbang Division engineer Mahathir Jokeni; and Land and Survey Department (Landas) Limbang Division superintendent Awang Nazri Awang Saperi. – DayakDaily
