KUCHING, May 13: The Sarawak government, under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), has spent about RM700 million for development in the Bukit Saban constituency within five to six years, says Deputy Premier Dato Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
He said this resulted from the constituents’ unity and strong support towards the then government under Barisan Nasional (BN) since 1974.
“From there, developments continue to be implemented in the Bukit Saban constituency,” he said during Mantar Gawai 2023 ceremony, which was streamed live via Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today.
He added Bukit Saban constituency now has also achieved full coverage of electricity and water supply, including road connectivity.
Meanwhile, Uggah, who is also Bukit Saban assemblyman, urged the local constituent to find a way to generate more income.
He said once the construction of the (Short Take-Off and Landing) STOLport in Bebuling is completed, it will not only be able to export products from Betong but also bring tourism potential to the Bukit Saban constituency too.
“So we must be prepared. We must find a way to generate more income by producing products such as handicraft, traditional ‘kuih’, clothing, and many others,” he added. — DayakDaily
