BINTULU, Dec 24: Without a majority, the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) risks losing its power, and without power, it cannot effectively fight for the people’s interests, said deputy president Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

Awang Tengah, who is also Deputy Premier, emphasised that the party’s success is not solely defined by election victories but also by its unwavering commitment to championing the rights and development of the people, along with partners in the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition.

In a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), he stressed that PBB will continue striving for political victories, focusing on improving the lives of the people and ensuring the party’s relevance in tackling future challenges.

“PBB’s struggles encompass various aspects, including education, talent development, and improving the quality of life for the people.

“Change is happening at a rapid pace. If we fail to keep up, the people will see us as irrelevant. We must evolve while staying true to our principles and policies,” he said during his speech at the PBB Jepak Branch Delegates Meeting for the 2024-2027 session, held at a hotel here on Sunday (Dec 23).

He also praised the rapid development of Bintulu as a major investment hub, attributing its transformation to the tireless efforts of PBB’s leadership.

“Bintulu’s growth and transformation is no accident. It is the direct result of our leaders’ dedication. We want PBB Jepak to remain relevant and become a key driver of the district and Sarawak’s progress,” he added.

Furthermore, Amar Awang Tengah called on party members to help foster the success of more entrepreneurs and business owners, while urging the youth to embrace progressive thinking in their service.

He also highlighted Sarawak’s achievement in regaining control of Bintulu Port under the Malaysia Agreement 1963, showcasing PBB’s strong commitment.

“This accomplishment is the result of political stability and our collective strength. With this foundation, we will continue to fight for our rights and further advance Sarawak,” he added.
