KUCHING, Aug 9: The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak urgently needs 414 new technical workers, particularly in the Kapit region, to ensure the smooth implementation of projects and to enhance service quality.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas highlighted the pressing need for additional staff during an interview with TV Sarawak (TVS).

He pointed out that the vast area of Kapit poses significant challenges for implementing agencies like JKR due to the current staff shortage.
“Kapit is a vast area, and one of the main issues faced by implementing agencies such as JKR here is the lack of staff,” Uggah was quoted as saying by TVS.
To address this issue, Uggah confirmed that JKR Sarawak plans to increase its workforce in Kapit by sending new staff towards the end of this year, allowing for the effective implementation of projects starting next year.
He added that the hiring process for these new technical workers is currently underway. ā DayakDaily
