Deputy Premier invites all to first State-level Chinese New Year Open House on Feb 10 at BCCK

KUCHING, Jan 23: The Sarawak government’s 2024 Chinese New Year Open House is scheduled to take place on Feb 10 (Saturday) from 9am to 3pm at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here, according to Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Dr Sim stated in a Facebook post that he chaired the State-level 2024 Chinese New Year organising committee meeting yesterday (Jan 22) at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here.

“Although it is the first time, I am confident that with the experienced secretariat led by Deputy State Secretary (Operations), Datu Hii Chang Kee, and the full support of various Sarawak government agencies, the Federation of Sarawak Chinese Association, the Sarawak Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the Sarawak Chinese Martial Art Association, and others, we will be able to organise a successful Chinese New Year Open House for all Sarawakians as part of Sarawak nation building.


“Truly only in Sarawak, everyone celebrates each other’s festivals together. Everyone is invited. It’s an open house!” he said.

The meeting was attended by various dignitaries and officials, including Hii; Transport Sarawak (MOTS) Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin; Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP) Sarawak Deputy Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew; Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap and Batu Kitang assemblyman Dato Lo Khere Chiang. — DayakDaily
