KUCHING, Aug 30: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has urged Malaysians, including Sarawakians, to liberate themselves from mental colonialism and strive for success while resisting external forces that seek to undermine the country’s political stability.

Aligned with this year’s National Day theme, ‘Jiwa Merdeka’ (Spirit of Freedom), Awang Tengah hopes that people will understand and value the significance of today’s celebration.

“On this meaningful day, let us unite to honour and appreciate the struggles of our past leaders who fought for independence and the formation of the Federation of Malaysia.

“Their immense sacrifices not only freed us from colonial rule but also contributed to the creation of a free, sovereign nation where unity prevails among its people,” he said in his message for the 67th National Day.

Awang Tengah urged citizens to wave the Jalur Gemilang flag on National Day proudly.

“May the spirit of patriotism remain strong within us all. Together, let us work towards building a brighter future for Sarawak and Malaysia.

“Happy National Day, Malaysia!” he concluded. — DayakDaily
