Deputy Premier: 862 housing units and Rumah Spektra Permata completed, 468 units ongoing

KUCHING, May 23: A total of 862 units of affordable housing and Rumah Spektra Permata (RSP) undertaken by Housing Development Corporation (HDC) have been completed so far, says Deputy Premier of Sarawak Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Dr Sim who is Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, said these projects were implemented under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).


They consisted of 504 units at Darul Hana 1A and 2A, 122 units RSP Bunga Rampai, 110 units RSP Kemuyang, 26 units RSP SPK Lundu, 25 units RSP SPK Sematan, 10 units RSP SPK Lingga, 22 units RSP Igan, 20 units RSP SPK Tian, 3 units RMM Kampung Datu Baru and 20 units RSP SPK Majelin.

Meanwhile, the ongoing projects involved the construction of 468 units of affordable housing in Kuching, Betong, Miri and Limbang are currently ongoing.

“HDC plans to implement 1,298 units of affordable housing in Sarawak for the next 2 years costing RM192.08 million,” he said when presenting his ministerial winding-up speech at Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today.

Dr Sim further told the august House that the only ongoing federal funded project is at PPR Seduan comprising of 461 single-storey terrace houses which is scheduled to complete in August this year.

This project, he said, is directly implemented by Ministry of Local Government Development (KPKT) Malaysia.

“My Ministry has also submitted six additional PPR sites on Feb 21 for the consideration of the Federal government and pending its approval.

“This particular request has been reiterated in my recent visit to KPKT Malaysia,” he emphasised.
