KUCHING, March 15: The Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) will temporarily deactivate its closed-circuit television system (CCTV) to allow for system upgrades, which will include the integration of advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) features.
In a notice posted on its Facebook today, the council said upgrading works are being done by the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), and this includes the installation of additional CCTV poles and the replacement of equipment, particularly cameras, to achieve better resolution and the addition of AI features.
The number of CCTV cameras in the DBKU area are also expected to increase from 35 units to 80 units after the installation work is completed.
“The installation and connection work using fiber-optic lines by SMA is expected to be fully completed before the end of May 2025, and the reoperation of DBKU’s CCTV is expected to be carried out in June 2025.
“The DBKU authorities apologise for any inconvenience caused by the improvement works on the DBKU CCTV system,” it said. – DayakDaily
