SIBU, Feb 22: The RM25.8 million Darul Husna Mosque and two road projects costing RM9 million in Sibu Jaya are progressing well and expected to complete on schedule.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said the mosque and the two roads leading to Sibu Jaya are expected to be ready next year.

“These three projects, on open tender basis, will greatly benefit the people in Sibu Jaya,” he told a press conference after a site visit to Rumah Spectra Permata (RSP) housing project in Kemuyang here today.

Earlier, Dr Sim had visited the site of the Darul Husna Mosque and the two road projects. He also inspected the Azman Community Sports Centre project that was launched by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg last November.

The minister was content to note that construction for the sports complex was going smoothly at 25 per cent completion.

“The development of Sibu Jaya is so important that we build a lot facilities needed by the people such as roads, libraries, houses and so on. That’s why we went to the ground to ensure that all these project are implemented according to the schedule,” he said.

On another note, Dr Sim said works to repair and upgrade the roof of 1,600 units of the People’s Housing Programme (PPR) in Sibu Jaya and 500 PPR units in Batu Gong, Kuching, will be implemented soon. — DayakDaily
