KUCHING, April 5: The federal government has approved an additional allocation of RM15 million to build a new health clinic in Daro worth RM50 million.
According to TVS, Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad said before this, the existing allocation of RM35 million was insufficient, as RM50 million is needed to complete the project, which involves the construction of a type-four clinic.
In relation to that, he said additional allocation is needed to ensure the smooth running of the project, in addition to meeting the health facilities required by the people of Daro.
“We are grateful because the request for the additional allocation of RM15 million that was previously submitted to the federal government was approved, even though it took quite a while,” he said when contacted by TVS today.
Meanwhile, Safie said, based on information from the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR), the project has been tendered.
In addition, he said that the project site, which is more strategic, spacious, and safer for the clinic, was also determined after the walling work (Phase 1) was completed two years ago.
“We are aware that the existing health clinic, which is made of wood, is located on the banks of the Daro River. However, we found that the location was not suitable as it is narrow and often flooded.
“The new site is located next to the stadium, close to the village in Daro, besides the Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) for Kampung Lemang Pek, Ulu Daro and Pangtray,” he said.
He said that with the completion of the Batang Lassa Bridge, the new location also makes it easier for the people of Pulau Bruit and Matu to receive treatment at the clinic. — DayakDaily
