Daro set for major economic transformation with ambitious devt projects, says Deputy Premier

KUCHING, Aug 27: Daro is poised for a major economic transformation, with a series of ambitious development projects in the pipeline, according to Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan

In a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Awang Tengah, who is also Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, mentioned that the projects include the construction of Muara Lassa Bridge, Batang Paloh Bridge, and Batang Igan Bridge, which are expected to improve connectivity and facilitate smoother transportation throughout the region.

Beyond infrastructure, the town is set to benefit from the establishment of key facilities including the Entrepreneur Hub, Daro Riverfront, and Daro Digital Resource Centre.

These developments are expected to accelerate economic growth in the region and open up a range of new job opportunities for local residents, according to Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA).

“The Rajang Delta Development Agency has plans to undertake high impact projects to create job opportunities for local residents,” said Awang Tengah.

The Deputy Premier made these remarks on Sunday (Aug 25) while speaking at Daro Festival 2024, which was held at the Open Hall at New Daro Township.

In a separate event earlier that day, Awang Tengah officiated at the presentation of Section 6 Sarawak Land Code Gazette and Section 18 Sarawak Land Code Land Titles to 108 recipients from Kampung Tradisional, Kampung Itol, and Kampung Nangar Besar.

Among those present at the festival were Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad, Igan MP Ahmad Johnie Zawawi, Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab, Telian assemblyman Royston Valentine, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development, Datu Abdullah Julaihi, and Mukah Division Resident Kueh Lei Poh. — DayakDaily
