DARO, Aug 8: The iconic Daro Festival has returned and is at Tapak Pesta Daro from Aug 5 to 14, 2022.
The Daro Festival is held annually to commemorate the recognition of Dato as a district in Sarawak, apart from celebrating the contribution, teamwork and unity of various communities in Daro.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the opening ceremony on Friday (Aug 5) was officiated at by Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad.
Also present was Igan MP Ahmad Johnie Zawawi.
There are 140 stalls operating at the festival consisting of Gerai Komuniti, Daro Kitchen, Gerai Keusahawanan, Usahawan Kebajikan and Gerai Pasar Tani.
Former Igan MP Datuk Abdul Wahab Dolah also contributed by sponsoring artists from Peninsular Malaysia.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to attend the festival on Aug 14.
Meanwhile, the postponement ceremony will be officiated at by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and Ukas) Datuk Abdullah Saidol in the evening on the same day. — DayakDaily
