DAPSY Serian proposes Nurul Izzah as Education Minister

Brolin Nicholsion

KUCHING, Jan 2: Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth (DAPSY) Serian chief Brolin Nicholsion proposes that Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar replace Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik who tendered his resignation today.

According to Brolin in a statement, since Dr Maszlee has stepped down as Education Minister, it is important his replacement be a suitable person who will really bring about educational reform.

Brolin, who is also special officer to Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei, pointed out the Education Ministry is of significance as it will shape future leaders, and plays the crucial role of uniting Malaysians.

“I would like to suggest to the government to get Nurul Izzah as the new Education Minister to replace Dr Mazlee as she was there from the beginning of our struggles to rebuild this nation,” Brolin asserted.

He opined that Nurul Izzah had gone through a lot since she was still young when her father Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de-facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was put into prison.

“She has proved that she is one of the best MPs when she was still an opposition MP and had done a great job to keep the previous government accountable even though the previous government was not accountable enough.

“With that being said, Nurul Izzah is the right person to bring reform to our education system and keep our country soaring forward,” Brolin emphasised.

Maszlee tendered his resignation as the education minister today, effective tomorrow, 20 months after he was appointed by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He was reported as saying he surrendered his post “in the spirit of discipline and loyalty to the government and the party.
