MIRI, Dec 10: Democratic Action Party (DAP) veteran Lim Kit Siang disclosed on Friday that the standard operating procedures (SOP) released by the Election Commission (EC) has put the party in a disadvantage position.

Lim has described the SOPs which were released on Dec 5 by EC for the 12th Sarawak Election as “unfair and one sided”.

He said this during a press conference held at DAP Miri election operation centre in Krokop 5 on Friday (Dec 10).

Lim is in Miri for a one day visit and to meet the party’s candidates for Piasau (Peter Hee), Pujut (Alan Ling) and Senadin (Marcus Lejau).

“The SOPs for the 12th Sarawak Election is unfair and one sided, I think just like yesterday’s event (the 100-day ‘report card’ announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on his Cabinet’s performance in Kuala Lumpur) has completely disregarded the Covid-19 SOPs,” he pointed out.

On another note, Lim called for Mirians to support the three DAP candidates for Pujut, Piasau and Senadin seat on Dec 18.

“I hope in Miri our candidates will get the support in order for us to push for a long term change for the country,” he said.

Lim also expressed his worries regarding split votes which could prevent the party from winning seats due to several multi-cornered fights in various constituencies.

“I am calling for voters to stand united and vote for DAP, do not split the votes, we need a dedicated group of Sarawakians who are farsighted so that we can have a better future,” said the 80 year-old politician during a press conference today.

Lim will be in Sibu on Saturday for a similar visit. — DayakDaily
