KUCHING, May 6: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak is offering legal advice and its services to assist the guardian of the children of the Sarawakian couple who were killed in an electrocution incident in their flat in Cameron Highlands in March.

Special assistant to DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, Michael Kong Feng Nian said they will help to apply for a Letter of Administration in order to administer the estate of the deceased.

“We will help this young family to see out their entire process as well as monitor their well-being from time to time,” he said in a statement today.

Kong noted that the children are now staying with their aunt and guardian Poly Pandong in Kampung Sungai Tapang and are being taken care of.

He said the Welfare Department has also been made aware of the change of guardianship and has indicated that their monthly monetary assistance will be reallocated to Miss Poly accordingly.

“The status of Sosco’s assistance is however unclear, and we shall look into it for her,” he added.

Many parties including NGOs and the State government have stepped forward to assist the family members of the deceased, especially their three children, who were immediately flown back following the incident. — DayakDaily
