KUCHING, March 26: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak has raised some funds to buy medical equipment to help the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) in the battle against the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii in a statement revealed DAP Sarawak purchased a total of five intravenous (IV) infusion pumps costing more than RM20,000 to be given to SGH.

He explained that the equipment is donated to help SGH in dealing with Covid-19 as well as to ensure the hospital has adequate equipment to tackle infectious diseases.

“This IV infusion pumps is important for patients who need an IV drip and also to infuse medication into Covid-19 patients.

“The hospital is in urgent need of more as those patients cannot simply share equipment with other patients,” Dr Yii added.

Seen are some of the medical equipment and the IV infusion pumps donated to SGH recently.

Meanwhile, Dr Yii disclosed the political party is still actively sourcing for other medical supplies including personal protective equipment (PPE), face masks and other medical items and equipment.

He revealed the party is awaiting the arrival of more medical supplies from West Malaysia in the near future and that the party is in touch with another group to donate 3D printed face visors (face shields) to SGH as well medical frontliners.

“I am really touched by the generosity and how all kinds of donors have stepped up. Even younger children has spoken to me over the phone and told me that they want to donate RM10 for this cause.

“No amount is too little and I am so happy to see the heart of our people during this time.

“We all have a part to play to fight this war together.

“We want to continue to advise members of the public to abide by the movement control order (MCO), stay at home, stay safe and stay hydrated,” he added.

In the meantime, the infusion pumps have been delivered to SGH by former Stampin MP Julian Tan. — DayakDaily
