KUCHING, Dec 16: There is a possibility of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) making a clean sweep in ongoing 12th Sarawak Election if voter turnout is lower than 65 per cent.

In pointing this out, Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen said there will be zero opposition in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN), thereby giving GPS the full and an unchecked power.

“The wiping out of opposition in DUN will not serve the interest of Sarawak and Sarawakian as a whole.

“This is my final appeal to the voters in Sarawak to come out to vote and concentrate your vote on DAP. Don’t waste them (votes) on other so-called opposition parties,” he told reporters in a press conference held at DAP headquarter here today.

Chong pointed out that the early voters turnout on December 14 was at 89 per cent, which was overwhelming.

He said it has been well known that all early voters were mostly GPS’s supporters.

“If the normal voters turnout is lower than 65 per cent, the 89 per cent of this early voters would have a greater impact on the ultimate results of the election.

“There is a risk of a total wipe out of the Opposition in DUN,” he said. – DayakDaily.
