KUCHING, Oct 24: Sarawak Democratic Action Party’s (DAP) Michael Kong Feng Nian claims that Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) and Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) were ‘Trojan horses’ used to disrupt the Opposition votes in the last 12th Sarawak Election.

Kong, who is the special assistant to Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen, said after PSB and PBK’s dismal performance during the State election, the parties and their candidates went into hibernation mode.

“It was only after the recent dissolution of the Parliament that they suddenly sprung back to life.

“It is evident that PSB and PBK’s real role in the State election was to be a Trojan horse to disrupt the Opposition votes.

“With the current news we hear about who PSB have approached to stand as a candidate under the PSB ticket, the signals cannot be any clearer,” he said in a statement today.

He also questioned PSB’s intention, and determination as a political party after the recent resignation of Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How from the party.

“Despite the clear wordings of Article 17(6) of the Constitution of the State of Sarawak and a Letter of Undertaking from See Chee How, the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker refused to declare the seat vacant.

“Despite this ruling which was against PSB’s favour, PSB just sat quietly and accepted the Speaker’s ruling without giving any fight.

“If PSB does not even bother to take up the challenge to uphold the people’s mandate in Batu Lintang, then likewise, we cannot expect PSB to speak up for the people of Sarawak,” he added. — DayakDaily
