KUCHING, March 5: Michael Kong, a special assistant to Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen called for immediate road repairs to elevate road safety and ensure the well-being of all road users.

Kong made this statement today following his visit to the site of concern located along Jalan Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wee Boon Ping yesterday.

“It is imperative that these works are carried out swiftly and efficiently,” said Kong upon acknowledging the importance of the maintenance works to ensure road safety and functionality.

The recent excavation of the section along Jalan Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wee Boon Ping, undertaken for resurfacing, has heightened worries among motorists, particularly those who are more susceptible to uneven road conditions.

According to Kong, protracted delays in the process may lead to considerable inconvenience for drivers, and each passing day without completion can escalate the risk of accident and injuries.

He expressed his concern during discussions with the supervisors overseeing the roadworks and urged them to prioritise addressing the growing frustration among road users.

Meanwhile, Kong reminded road users using the stretch of road in question to drive carefully, especially upon approaching the junction of Jalan Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wee Boon Ping and Jalan Kong Ping. — DayakDaily
