BINTANGOR, May 7: A police report was lodged today alleging that ‘outsiders’ were intimidating longhouse residents here and controlling and monitoring their movements.

In a press statement, Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarikei said over the past few days, there were many “guests” carrying Barisan Nasional (BN) flags coming to longhouses in Sarikei and Bintangor.

“These guests will station themselves at longhouses, monitoring and controlling the movement of the Iban longhouse residents and intimidating them.

“One of our speakers was one of the victims.

“Our candidate Wong Ling Biu has also received multiple complaints from other Iban longhouse residents regarding outsiders restricting their movement in and out of longhouses,” DAP Sarikei alleged today.

Wong and the speaker lodged a police report this morning, requesting an investigation into the matter as well as to safeguard the safety of the local longhouse folks.

“We denounce such practice of gangsterism,” said DAP Sarikei. — DayakDaily
