KUCHING, April 6: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the form of coveralls worth over RM28,000 were delivered to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii said the PPE was the second batch medical supply assistance sourced by the Democratic Action Party (DAP) for medical frontliners.

ā€œThis is part of the few batches of supplies and equipment that will be handed over to SGH. The next few batches will be delivered in the coming days.

ā€œThese coveralls are important for the frontlinersĀ toĀ protect them from being exposed to the infection,Ā especially when handling patients of Covid-19,ā€Ā he said in a statement.

He added thatĀ the party has been activelyĀ sourcing medical equipment and supplies for the healthcare workers.

ā€œWeĀ have heard many reports that the frontlinersĀ end up being quarantined for precautions and testing after being exposed to Covid-19 patients due to lack of PPEs in hospitals and even clinics.

ā€œSo we try our best to source as much as we can to address this lack and offer better protection for our medical frontliners,ā€Ā he continued.

He added: ā€œThey have given so much to us and it is only right that we also give back to them. That is why we all have a collective responsibility to take care of one another and the best way is for us to stay home, and to abide by the MCO (movement control order).ā€

Dr Yii saidĀ by helping to provide PPEs for the frontliners, the healthcare workers can fully concentrate on the patients andĀ control the spread of the virus at the same time.

ā€œWe would like to thank all the donors and also all the frontliners for their commitment, hardĀ work and sacrifice for us all. Day in and day out, they carry out their responsibilities diligently to make sure we are protected and taken care of,ā€ he added.
