Dalat’s Oya Kaul site reopened following safety clearance, monitoring to continue

KUCHING, Feb 20: The Oya Kaul site in Dalat has been reopened to the public effective today, says the Dalat District Disaster Management Committee.

In a notice issued today, the committee said the decision was made after taking into consideration safety evaluation reports as well as technical advice from the related agencies.

“The reopening is effective starting February 20, 2026. The public is reminded to always be cautious in the mentioned area.

“The committee will continue to carry out monitoring works to ensure that the situation is safe and controlled,” it said.

Last month, highly flammable methane gas has been detected at the site following an extensive monitoring operation by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba). — DayakDaily
