Dalat turns red, Limbang back to green

The statistics of the districts under red zone and orange zone in Sarawak

KUCHING, Jan 26: Dalat district today joined six other districts in Sarawak to become high-risk Covid-19 red zone after accumulating 59 local cases in the past 14 days.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas revealed that Dalat alone recorded 22 cases linked to the Pasai Cluster today.

The other six districts remaining in the red zone were Bintulu, Kanowit, Beluru, Miri, Sibu and Kuching with a total of 1,683 local cases recorded in the past two weeks.

Limbang district managed to regain its green zone status with no cases reported in the last 14 days.

“Sarikei district’s status was elevated from yellow to orange zone after recording 21 local cases in the past 14 days,” he told a press conference on Covid-19 update today.

Sarikei recorded four positive cases today, out of which two cases imported from Sibu involved healthcare frontliners who were detected as a result of screening, one case linked to Pasai cluster and one case from symptomatic screening.

Sarikei joined Subis, Betong and Song which remained in the orange zone with 82 local cases reported in the past two weeks.

“Lawas district also lost its green status and elevated to yellow zone after reporting three local cases,” he said of the three cases detected from screening for travel to Sabah.

Sebauh district’s orange status however is now a yellow zone, maintaining 11 local cases detected in the last 14 days.

Districts remaining in the yellow zone were Tealng Usan, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Bau, Pakan, Serian, Belaga, Meradong, Julau, Kapit, Simunjan, Asajaya, Lubok Antu, Sarikei, Limbang, Selangau, Samarahan and Sri Aman with a total of 83 local cases recorded in the past 14 days.

Of the 40 districts in Sarawak, 11 districts still managed to maintain and defend its green zone status.

They were Limbang, Lundu, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Mukah, Daro, Matu, Pusa, Saratok, Kabong and Marudi.

Meanwhile, Sarawak today reported another three deaths in Sibu and 205 new Covid-19 cases, out of which 51 cases were confirmed in Sibu, Kanowit (41), Miri (32), Dalat (22), Bintulu (19), Kuching (10), Kapit (5), Lawas (5), Julau (4), Sarikei (4), Simunjan (3), two each in Pakan, Betong, Meradong and one each in Samarahan, Saratok and Marudi. — DayakDaily
