Customs Dept to assist State govt on petroleum management

KUCHING, July 4: The Sarawak Royal Customs Department Malaysia (JKDM) is ready to support the State government on petroleum management issues, said Director Norizan Yahya.

During his first courtesy visit to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Norizan emphasised the department’s willingness to assist with the import and export processes related to petroleum, which falls under the Sarawak Government’s jurisdiction.

“Our department will help with the import and export process procedures on how to assist with petroleum, where the Sarawak government controls the affairs of petroleum in the region,” Norizan told reporters after the visit.

Additionally, Norizan mentioned that the department would facilitate the affairs of athletes and officials for the Malaysian Games (Sukma) and Para Sukma Sarawak 2024.

As the department responsible for managing the stateā€™s entry points, JKDM will ensure the smooth processing of goods and luggage for the athletes.

“We will facilitate the procedure of releasing the baggage of athletes from contingents of other states and will also help special athletes who will compete. The department will prepare members and vehicles to assist in the procedure,” he explained.

Norizan assured that the Sarawak customs personnel are well-prepared to handle the influx of athletes and officials for Sukma and Para Sukma.

Also present during the visit were the Deputy Directors of the Royal Customs Department of Sarawak State Customs, Saidin Djpar, Abang Zamari Abang Nazarin, Rasha Afzal Shafii, and other customs officials. ā€” DayakDaily
