KUCHING, May 8: The Culinary Heritage and Arts Society Sarawak (CHASS) will hold a Gawai Carnival at the Hills Mall Kuching on May 13 and 14.
In a statement today, CHASS said the event by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts is to promote Sarawak’s heritage food and crafts.
According to its chairperson Datin Dona Drury-Wee, after a three-year absence due to the lockdown, CHASS is bringing back most of their events and activities.
“CHASS has since participated in several other events such as the Citrawarna, Kuching Jazz Festival, and Spring Mall ‘Juh Singgah Makan’, to name a few.
“It is time for us to revive our social enterprises’ business activities to support them,” she said.
The two-day event will be filled with interesting and entertaining programmes such as food demonstrations with hands-on experience for members of the public and free sampling, dances and jazz quartet performances, and cultural entertainment.
Open from 11am until 9pm at Hills Mall here, visitors are encouraged to register at the carnival for lucky draws.
A Tuak Cocktail Competition will also be held on May 14, with attractive cash prizes to be won.
