LIMBANG, Dec 20: The first salary increment under the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), received by civil servants nationwide yesterday, is not mere rhetoric but a clear testament to the government’s dedication to safeguarding their welfare and alleviating their burdens.

In a news report by TVS, Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) second deputy president Azman Shah Abdul Rahman, highlighted that the phased 8 per cent salary adjustment, scheduled for full implementation by December 2024, has already begun benefiting public servants and retirees, with the first payments issued yesterday.

In addition to the Federal government, he noted that the Sarawak government has also adopted the SSPA, ensuring salary improvements and adjustments for all public service personnel in Sarawak.

“We are grateful to the government for finally addressing our concerns and fulfilling our requests. What appeared on our payslips yesterday is not just rhetoric—it is a tangible demonstration of the government’s commitment,” he said during a media briefing, which included a visit to the Malaysian Broadcasting Department (RTM) Limbang office today.

He also extended special thanks to the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and the Sarawak government for implementing this unprecedented initiative.

“We deeply appreciate the remarkable steps taken by Sarawak’s leadership, which set a new benchmark for governance,” he emphasised.

Also present were Cuepacs Sarawak chairman Jubilee Jineh and RTM Limbang manager Muhamad Zakwan Yusof.

Azman further expressed gratitude for the salary adjustments under the SSPA and encouraged civil servants to redouble their efforts to deliver better services to the public.

“With this salary adjustment, we hope public servants will enhance their performance and provide even better service to the community,” he added. — DayakDaily
