KUCHING, Aug 16: “Someone told me it was like experiencing a rugged mountain road ride when passing through the traffic light junction,” says political secretary to the Chief Minister Tan Kai referring to the Jalan Tun Razak-Jalan Foochow junction here.

He said that Public Works Department (JKR) has been receiving numerous public complaints about the fairly uneven road surfaces at the junction although it was completed around December 2019.

In stating this, Tan said that he has appealed to Senior Minister (Works) Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof yesterday (Aug 15) to improve the quality of this traffic junction project left over by the previous Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.

“The project is using concrete pavement instead of conventional premix pavement under the previous PH government,” he said in a press statement today.

He added that the bumpy traffic junction could cause inconvenience to road users due to the uneven surfaces.

Besides, it portrays a detrimental image to Kuching city as the junction itself is one of the transportation hubs in the city, he opined. —DayakDaily
