MUKAH, Dec 22: The number of criminal cases in Mukah remains low, as house break-ins and thefts contributed the most to the crime index in the district this year.

Mukah district police chief, DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias in a statement today said both contributed 13 cases each from a total of 54 cases reported for this year, as of Dec 22.

In comparison there were a total of five index crime cases last year. Another 10 cases involved theft of motorcycles.

“The number of cases solved this year is lower than last year. This is because some of the cases are still at the trial stage in court. The other reason is that for some cases, the suspects could not be traced,” he said.

Last year, the police managed to solve 37 cases (62.71%) from the 59 reported cases as compared to 30 cases (55.5%) from a total of 54 reported cases. — DayakDaily
