KUCHING, Feb 3: A consultant’s technical report has found that the cracks on one of the houses at the Darul Hana Development Project here were caused by ground movement due to the construction works carried out in the area.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) chief executive officer (CEO) Mohamad Asman Ahmad emphasised that HDC, as the implementing agency for the housing project, takes seriously the damages that have occurred at a house which went viral on social media recently.

“Appropriate action will be taken to resolve the damages to a housing unit. It must be insisted that the house’s structure is still in good condition and safe to be occupied.

“Other factors that could cause the damage are changes in the underground water flow as well as vibration from heavy vehicles,” he said in a statement today.

Mohamad Asman added that the site inspection is now being done before repair works can begin.

“This is to ensure that the same damage does not occur again,” he added.

To ensure the safety of residents in the area, he gave assurance that continuous monitoring would be carried out and HDC would coordinate with the relevant department and agencies to overcome the problem.

He also called for cooperation from the public not to make any speculations and stop spreading photos of the damages to the house.

“This is to prevent anxiety, worry, and panic among residents at Darul Hana while giving room for HDC to carry out rectification and investigation as best as possible,” he urged. — DayakDaily
