Covid-19: Zero new cases reported as four clusters end

KUCHING, Aug 25: Four Covid-19 clusters, namely the Engineering Company, Sentosa, Melbourne PUI and Satok clusters, have ended while no new Covid-19 cases were reported in Sarawak today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement today, informed that the state tally of positive cases is maintained at 696.


With the four clusters declared ended with no new cases reported in the last 28 days, the number of active clusters in Sarawak has been reduced to two, namely the Mambong Cluster with seven cases and Alam Bintulu Cluster with seven cases.

Currently Kuching and Bintulu districts are labelled as Covid-19 yellow zones, with less than 40 cases each.

There were no recovered and discharged patients recorded today and as such, the total number of recovered cases in Sarawak is maintained at 662 or 95.11 per cent of total positive cases so far.

As of today, SDMC revealed that 15 patients are still being treated in hospitals throughout the state with none admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICUs) or requiring respiratory support.

There are nine patients treated in Bintulu Hospital, Sarawak General Hospital (4) and one in Sibu Hospital.

Sarawak also reported 19 more Persons-Under-Investigation (PUI) while two cases are awaiting laboratory test results.

In addition, 165 more Persons-Under-Surveillance (PUS) have been checked into identified hotels to undergo quarantine.

As of today, there are a total of 912 individuals undergoing quarantine in 14 hotels throughout the state. — DayakDaily
