KUCHING, Aug 29: One locally transmitted Covid-19 case was recorded in Kuching today involving a 48-year-old woman who took a swab test prior to a surgery.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement, said that this brought the state tally of positive cases to 698.
Case 698 was identified following the rT-PCR swab test for Covid-19 on Aug 28 which was conducted prior to a surgery.
The test result returned positive today. The patient had shown symptoms since Aug 14. She had been admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for treatment.
SDMC assured that further investigation and contact tracing were being actively carried out.
Meanwhile, there was no recovery and discharge recorded today and as such, the total number of recovered cases in Sarawak is maintained at 662 or 94.84 per cent of total positive cases so far.
Only one cluster remained active in Sarawak which was the Alam Cluster in Bintulu with seven cases.
As of today, two districts are still labelled yellow zone, which is with less than 40 cases, namely Kuching and Bintulu.
A total of 17 patients were still receiving treatment in hospitals throughout the state with none admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or requiring respiratory support.
There were 10 patients treated in Bintulu Hospital, while five in SGH and one each in Sibu Hospital and Miri Hospital.
Sarawak also reported two more persons-under-investigation (PUI) with no cases pending laboratory test results.
In addition, 57 more persons-under-surveillance (PUS) have been checked in to identified hotels to undergo quarantine.
As of today, there were a total number of 820 individuals undergoing quarantine in 14 hotels throughout the state. —DayakDaily
