SERIAN, June 12: The Covid-19 vaccination centre at Siburan community centre which opens today recorded 540 persons receiving their jabs.
Assistant Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil who visited the centre today hoped that more people will come to get vaccinated.
“We are targeting about 1,000 people per day to have the vaccination (Covid-19) because it is only by vaccination to control the virus,” Dr Jerip, who is also Mambong state assemblyman, said.
He said the centre, although in Serian division, also caters for the people from Padawan or Penrissen areas.
“For this centre, the people who have registered with MySejahtera or through Resident Office can also come because it (the centre) does not only confine to those from Serian Division.”
“For this Covid-19 vaccination, we do not go constituency by constituency”.
“For example those from Mambong area can go to the centre ar Kota Samarahan if their names appear there,” Dr Jerip explained further.
According to him, the response from the public to register themselves for Covid-19 vaccination has been very positive, and urged them to get vaccinated to the centre closest to their area.
Dr Jerip also said that his health clinic at Kota Padawan near here will start operating as Covid-19 vaccination centre next week, adding that all the necessary preparations had already put in place.
Together with him during the visit was Family Specialist Health officer Dr Diana Law from the Siburan Health Clinic, who heads the centre.
She said the people should get themselves registered with MySejahtera first and having appointment, before being vaccinated at the centre.
Meanwhile, Serian Resident Tuah Suni, who was also present, said more than 11,000 people in Serian have already been vaccinated, including today.
According to him, there are three Covid-19 vaccination centres in the division already operating.
The three are in Siburan, Serian town and Tebedu while another two in Balai Ringin and Tebakang will open soon. — DayakDaily
