Covid-19 vaccination bus in Sibu makes its rounds to red zone areas

SIBU, July 3: The Covid-19 mobile vaccination programme, utilising a bus in Sibu has started operating on Friday, targeting red zone areas in the district.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Assistant Minister of Education & Science & Technological Research Dr Annuar Rapa’ee said the programme is targeting red zone areas such as Tiong Hua area, which is still recording a high number of infections.

“Our first location is in the Tiong Hua area, which is badly affected by a Covid-19 outbreak and we will be conducting a comprehensive vaccination programme in the area,” he said during his visit on the first day of the mobile vaccination programme using the bus, on Friday.


The report noted that the mobile vaccination team is hoping to vaccinate about 50 people per day during its preliminary run this week, and it will be increased if all goes according to the plan.

Apart from the Tiong Hua area, the team is also targeting residents in Tong San and Sukun area, and the programme will be extended to other localities that will be identified later.

The mobile vaccination programme operates from 5pm daily, to ensure that those who are working will get vaccinated without interrupting their working hours, and no walk-ins will be accepted. — DayakDaily
