JPBN-four new COVID-19 PUI cases-1/3/2020

KUCHING, March 1: An Australian national is among the four novel coronavirus (Covid-19) Persons Under Investigation (PUI) cases reported in the state today.

State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) in a press statement revealed the four cases were recorded at the Sarawak General Hospital here and that the three other cases are Malaysians.

“With the new cases, Sarawak has since January 10 until today, recorded a cumulative 133 PUI cases. While 106 cases involved Malaysians, 22 are Chinese nationals and one Thai, one Indonesian, one Pakistani, one Canadian and one Australian.”

The statement however noted that a total of 126 cases had tested negative while seven other cases are still awaiting results from laboratory tests.

The Health Department as of yesterday, has screened a total of 20,946 arrivals to the state, which brings the total number to 290,003 people screened, since Feb 1, 2020.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Health Department director Dr Chin Zin Hing advised those intending to visit Covid-19-affected countries like China, South Korea, Italy, Japan and Iran to postpone their trips for now.
