Covid-19 update: Five new PUI cases reported in Kuching

KUCHING, Feb 18: Sarawak recorded five new Patient Under Investigation (PUI) cases for Covid-19 today.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee secretariat, all five involved are Malaysians and the cases were reported at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

To date, Sarawak has recorded 97 PUI cases since Jan 10.


“The majority of them, 74, are Malaysians, 20 Chinese nationals and one each from Thailand, Indonesia and Canada. However, 92 tested negative while the remaining five are still pending laboratory results,” the statement revealed.

Meanwhile, as at 12 noon yesterday, the Health Department has screened 6,820 arrivals at various air, land and sea entry points statewide, bringing the total to 119,531 since Feb 1.

The Health Department also advised those who are ill with fever, cough or breathing difficulties within 14 days after returning from China to seek immediate medical treatment and they must notify the doctors about their travel history. — DayakDaily
