Covid-19: Three new cases detected in Bintulu linked to case 557

The statistics of the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak as of June 16.

KUCHING, June 16: Sarawak registered three new Covid-19 cases in Bintulu as of 2pm today.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement today, informed that all the cases involving one family were detected as a result of contact tracing to case 557.

The positive cases brings the state tally to 560 and 17 deaths.


No recoveries are recorded today and as such, the total number of recovered cases in Sarawak is maintained at 534 or 95.36 per cent of total positive cases so far.

As of today, nine patients are still being treated in hospitals with none admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or requiring respiratory support.

There are five patients treated in SGH and four in Bintulu Hospital.
Four districts in Sarawak are labelled yellow zone, which is with 40 or fewer Covid-19 cases, including Kuching, Samarahan, Simunjan and Bintulu.

SDMC also informed that the state registered 195 person-under-investigation (PUI) cases today while 14 cases are still awaiting laboratory test results.

There are also 73 person-under-surveillance (PUS) have been checked in to identified hotels to undergo compulsory 14-days quarantine.

As of today, there are a total of 695 individuals undergoing quarantine in 14 hotels across Sarawak.ā€”DayakDaily
