KUCHING, March 15: The Health Ministry (MoH) has announced 190 new cases of positive Covid-19 in the country as at 12 noon today, bringing the total cases to 428.

“There are 14 cases being treated at Hospital Sungai Buloh and Hospital Kuala Lumpur while 22 have been discharged,” Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said in a statement.

Based on initial investigation, majority of the new cases were connected to the cluster from a religious rally held at Masjid Jamek Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, on Feb 29, where it was attended by about 16,000 people.

“As of today, nine positive Covid-19 cases are currently in intensive care unit (ICU),” Dr Adham added.

The ministry is working round the clock to trace all the participants who attended the rally and urged these individuals to contact the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) or the nearest district health office for screenings.

“This is in line with the recommendation of the Ministry of Health to curb the spread of Covid-19 infection,” he continued.

Malaysia recorded 190 new positive Covid-19 cases as of March 15, 2020.

Dr Adham said rally participants will be placed under supervision and observation order Section 15(1) of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act 1988 for a period of 14 days from the date these people attended the rally or those with close contact to Covid-19 positive cases.

“The ministry urges all parties to cooperate with health officials to ensure the infection does not continue to spread in the community,” he said. — DayakDaily
