KUCHING, Mar 14: Sarawak has recorded six new positive cases of Covid-19 bringing the total to nine cases as of today.
The State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas in a statement disclosed that the new cases recorded were from Limbang (two cases) and Kuching (four cases).
“All of the patients are currently being treated at the designated hospitals, and Sarawak is taking an immediate step to announce any updates or new cases involving Covid-19, so that the public will be well informed,” he said.
At the same time, Uggah also appealed to those who had attended the religious gathering at Sri Petaling Mosque in Kuala Lumpur, and those who have yet to report themselves to the nearest hospital and the Divisional Health Office for the Covid-19 screening to do so immediately.
According to Uggah, they have managed to track down 311 participants, but believed that they may be more of them.
He said they will be forming a special team to study the Sarawak Health Declaration Forms for those who have entered Sarawak from all four airports from Mar 2-5, 2020.
“This will enable us to identify those who flew into Sarawak, and I have also discussed with the private hospital representatives in Sarawak to seek their support and cooperation in addressing the current Covid-19 outbreak,” he added.
Meanwhile, JPBN secretariat today also issued a statement advising those those who have developed symptoms of Covid-19 such as fever, cough, flu or breathing difficulty, to contact the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) or Divisional Health Department.
