Covid-19: Six new cases, no fatality reported nationwide

KUCHING, June 19: Six new cases of Covid-19 are reported today, bringing the total number of infections nationwide to 8,535.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said two were imported cases that involved one Malaysian and one permanent resident who caught the virus overseas, while the remaining four were local transmission.

“No new Covid-19 deaths were reported today, leaving the country’s death toll from the infectious disease remain unchanged at 121.

“Today, 70 cases have been discharged in the last 24-hours, bringing the total cumulative discharged cases to 8,070 patients who have recovered from Covid-19,” he said at a press conference on Covid-19 at Putrajaya.

Our recovery rate is now at 94.6 per cent out of the total number of positive cases,” he said.

Currently, there are only 344 active cases being treated at hospitals nationwide.

As of today, there are three patients being treated in the intensive care units (ICU) and none are on ventilator support. -DayakDaily
