Covid-19: Sibu reports two deaths, Sarawak logs 798 cases in Epid Week 33

KUCHING, Aug 22: Two deaths involving Covid-19 were reported in Sibu as Sarawak recorded 798 cases during Epid (Epidemiological) Week 33.

In a statement today, Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 778 of the cases are under Categories 1, 2 and 3, while 20 are under Categories 3, 4 and 5.

This brings the total cumulative number of cases reported in Sarawak to 310,974.


Kuching remains the district reporting the most number of cases with 242, followed by Sibu (138), Bintulu (113), Miri (110), Samarahan (31), Serian (21), Sarikei (20), Bau (17), and Mukah (11).

Other district that reported new cases are Kapit (8), Subis (8), Lawas (8), Betong (8), Dalat (6), Sri Aman (6), Limbang (5), Tatau (5), Kanowit (4), Simunjan (4), Lubok Antu (4), Kabong (4), Selangau (3), Daro (3), Meradong (3), Asajaya (2), Beluru (2), Pusa (2), Lundu (2), Sebauh (2), and one case each for Saratok, Marudi, Telang Usan, Julau, Song, and Pakan. — DayakDaily
