Covid-19: Sibu, Kuching and Miri register triple-digit cases again, three deaths reported

KUCHING, May 4:  Sibu, Kuching and Miri registered triple-digit Covid-19 cases again today, contributing 320 cases or 48.27 per cent of 663 total cases in Sarawak today.

The State also recorded three new fatalities on the same day, bringing the State’s death toll to 252.


Of the new cases reported today, Sibu district recorded 112 cases, followed by Kuching (105), Miri (103), Belaga (43), Bintulu (37), Serian (29), Betong (29), Selangau (26), Pakan (23), Samarahan (22), Mukah (16), Kapit (15), Tanjung Manis (15), Sarikei (14), Subis (11), Sri Aman (10), Lawas (9), Bau (8), Kanowit (7), Song (6), Pusa (4), Meradong (3), Julau (3), Beluru (3), Tatau (2), Tebedu (2), Asajaya (2), Marudi (1), Bukit Mabong (1), Dalat (1) and Simunjan (1).

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said 85 out of the 663 cases were symptomatic.

Additionally, 534 out of the total cases comprised individuals who had been instructed to undergo quarantine at designated places.

Meanwhile, 452 cases were screened after having contact to positive cases, 82 cases were individuals linked to active clusters, 73 detected from screening of symptomatic individuals and 56 from other screenings in health facilities.

Sarawak also reported 332 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospitals statewide, bringing the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 35,123 or 83.07 per cent.

There are 6,814 individuals still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards in the State.

There were 663 new Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) cases have been reported with none awaiting laboratory test results. — DayakDaily
