Covid-19: SGH frontliners receive much needed medical supplies, PPE

KUCHING, March 27: Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) received some much needed medical supplies for its frontliners responding to Covid-19 cases.

Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong presented essential medical supplies that included type N95 face masks, protective glasses and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to the hospital here today.

“The first batch of medical supplies donated by Kuching Democratic Action Party (DAP) and public donors was handed over to SGH to address the urgent need of essential medical supplies including protective gear for medical workers and frontliners in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.


“These medical and protective supplies are necessary to protect medical staff from the risk of infection of the virus especially in the line of duty,” Yong said in a statement.

She added that Kuching DAP managed to purchase more medical equipment supplies from Peninsular Malaysia that will be handed over to SGH.

She added that hospitals are in great need of such medical supplies. However, the normal government procurement process will take longer and more time.

In this regards, DAP took the initiative and quick measures to address the lack of supplies through the cooperation and generous contributions from the public, she continued.

“We are very grateful for the generous donation of the people, and also would like to take the opportunity to thank all front liners, staff in all the relevant fields.

“It is everyone’s responsibility to fight this pandemic. That is why, during this extraordinary times, it is important we all stay at home, reduce any outdoor travels and help reduce the spread of the infection.

“We believe if everyone play their part and fight this virus together, we are able to overcome this pandemic sooner,” Yong said. — DayakDaily
