SIBU, March 15: The present health status of Sarikei MP Wong Ling Biu who was earlier confirmed as positive for Covid-19 at Sibu Hospital is only known to the hospital authority and his family members.

When contacted for comment, state Health director, Dr Chin Zin Hing was non-committal.

Bukit Assek assemblywoman, Irene Chang when contacted, was unsure of her colleague’s status.

“I have not visited him as we are not allowed to do so. I only heard from sources that his condition is serious,” she said.

Pelawan assemblyman, David Wong also was unsure of the Sarikei MP’s present status.

“I don’t know his condition as I have not visited him since we are not supposed to do so as he is placed under isolation. His family members have also being quarantined,” he revealed, adding that he hoped Ling Biu would pull through.

Meanwhile, Sibu MP Oscar Ling opined that Ling Biu could have contracted the virus when he flew in from Kuala Lumpur to Sibu early this month.

He revealed that he and Lanang MP Alice Lau travelled with Ling Biu in the same vehicle while in Kuala Lumpur to attend a political event.

“Our last contact with him was on March 2. He was feeling healthy then. Most probably he could have been infected with the virus inside the plane,” he added.

Ling also revealed that although he himself did not have any Covid-19 symptoms, he had decided to undergo a health test at Sibu Hospital at 2.30pm today.

“Tomorrow is the last of the 14-day incubation period since I had last contact with Wong. Though I don’t have any symptoms, it is good to have a health check,” he added. — DayakDaily
