Covid-19: Sarawak records 21 critical cases among 1,361 new cases reported

KUCHING, Oct 5: Sarawak reported 1,361 new Covid-19 cases today of which 21 are categorised as critical.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said of today’s new cases, 11 patients (0.81 per cent) are in Category 3 (develop pneumonia but can still breathe on their own), six patients (0.44 per cent) are in Category 4 (need oxygen supply), while four patients (0.29 per cent) are in Category 5 (need a ventilator to breathe).

Meanwhile, the remaining 1,340 new cases or 98.46 per cent are in Category 1 (no symptoms) and Category 2 (mild symptoms).


“There are 168 cases (12.34 per cent) in Category 1 while 1,172 cases (86.11 per cent) are in Category 2,” it said.

SDMC also disclosed that by district, Kuching took the lead in number of new cases with 316, followed by Miri (254), Sibu (147), Bintulu (99), Samarahan (82), Limbang (45), Serian (44), Lawas (40), Kapit (30), Betong (30), Saratok (29), Sri Aman (25), Simunjan (23), Sarikei (22), Mukah (22), Asajaya (21) and Tatau (20).

Districts registering less than 20 new cases are Bau (18), Belaga (12), Subis (10), Lundu (8), Kanowit (8), Beluru (8), Marudi (7), Song (7), Lubok Antu (7), Kabong (6), Pakan (6), Selangau (5), Tebedu (3), Bukit Mabong (3), Meradong (2), Julau (1) and Pusa (1).
