Covid-19: Sarawak logs 385 new cases, 13 critical

KUCHING, Nov 8: Sarawak’s daily Covid-19 case tally continued to trend downward, dropping below the 400-mark for the first time since July 26.

According to a press statement from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Sarawak registered 385 new Covid-19 cases today.

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 244,959.

SDMC said out of the 385 cases, 13 were in critical stages.

Three patients were intubated (Category 5), six patients required oxygen support (Category 4) and four patients had pneumonia (Category 3).

There were 230 Covid-19 patients with mild symptoms (Category 2) while 142 Covid-19 patients were asymptomatic (Category 1).

By district, Kuching recorded the biggest gain with 145 new Covid-19 cases.

This was followed by Miri (58), Sibu (43), Bintulu (21), Dalat (16), Lawas (15) and Limbang (11).

Districts with less than 10 cases were Sri Aman (9), Mukah (9), Samarahan (8), Betong (6), Serian (4), Simunjan (4), Kapit (4), Bau (4), Telang Usan (3), Lundu (2), Marudi (2), Subis (2), Lubok Antu (2), Song (1), Saratok (1), Julau (1), Meradong (1), Kanowit (1), Beluru (1), Matu (1), Pakan (1) and Selangau (1).

Ten districts reported zero new Covid-19 cases.

They were Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Belaga, Kabong, Pusa, Daro, Tatau, Asajaya, Bukit Mabong and Sebauh.

On the other hand, 12 new Covid-19 deaths were reported today bringing Sarawak’s overall death toll to 1,452.

There were no new clusters declared but the Bungey 2 Cluster in Betong was declared ended.

There were also no new Covid-19 cases detected from existing active clusters in Sarawak.
