KUCHING, July 21: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today announced a new Covid-19 cluster in Sarawak, known as the Sentosa cluster, after four persons working in a health facility there were confirmed positive for the disease.
SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah at a press conference said: “Twenty-three close contacts of case number 602 (which were reported on July 19) had been traced so far, and four of them tested positive via rT-PCR for Covid-19.
“To-date, there are a total of five positive cases from this cluster. The cause is still being investigated and contact tracing is still on going,” Uggah added.
He also revealed that there was one additional case for the Health cluster, making it a total of three cases, and an additional case for the Stutong Market cluster, making it a total of three cases as well.
There were no additional cases reported for other active clusters, namely Construction site cluster (3), Engineering company cluster (3), Mambong cluster (5), Jupiter cluster (3) and Kuching Jetty cluster (2).
Meanwhile, Uggah also announced that Bau district was now a Covid-19 yellow zone one case of local infection was detected.
This makes the total number of districts in Sarawak with yellow status as three (Kuching, Samarahan and Bau) while the remaining 37 districts in the state are still green. — DayakDaily
