KUCHING, Oct 14: Covid-19 Antigen rapid test kits (RTK Antigen) for self-testing is expected to be available at supermarkets and chain stores in October 2021.

The government through the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) is in the final stages of discussions with the Ministry of Health (MoH) to allow more premises such as supermarkets and chain stores to sell the self-test kits.

“Taking into account its necessity, the increase in the number of retail outlets in selected supermarkets and chain stores is expected to allow the public to have easy access to it,” said KPDNHEP in a press statement today.

At the same time, KPDNHEP urged traders to offer lower and reasonable prices without the government setting a new price level.

The Ministry took note that there are approximately 9 million RTK Antigen test kits in the market.

“The industry involved in bringing in and producing the product has provided positive feedback that it may be sold at a lower price than the current maximum retail price.

“KPDNHEP is confident that the joint efforts between manufacturers and importers as well as supermarkets and chain stores can help stabilise its prices in an effort to end the Covid-19 pandemic.  — DayakDaily
