KUCHING, Nov 13: A new covid-19 cluster is reported in Kuching today involving Pending and Padungan areas.
“Sarawak State Health Department has identified a new cluster in Kuching today, namely the Abell Cluster,” said the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
The index case of the cluster was detected to be Covid-19 positive from a self-screening at a private medical laboratory on Nov 10.
Close contacts tracing of the patient had identified 13 more positive cases and all of them had been admitted into Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment.
“Up till 12.00pm on Nov 13, a total of 70 individuals were screened.
“Among them, 14 individuals were found positive with 10 new cases today, 13 individuals results came back negative and 43 individuals more awaiting laboratory results,” it said in a Covid-19 update statement today.
With that, the committee concluded a total of six active clusters in Sarawak namely the Abell Cluster (14 cases), Wisma Saberkas Cluster (42 cases), Bah Arnah Cluster (12 cases), Baki Cluster (33 cases), Seladah Cluster (nine cases) and Greenhill Cluster (88 cases).
Meanwhile, SDMC said green zone Lawas district is now a Covid-19 yellow zone with one new positive case reported today.
On the other hand, Limbang district is revert back to green zone after 14 days of zero local transmission cases being detected.
“Miri and Lundu districts maintain as yellow zones while Kuching remains a red zone with a total of 130 local transmission cases reported in the last 14 days,” said SDMC. — DayakDaily
